Shanga HQ (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates shangahq.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your email address and the date you subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

Usage data. We may collect standard server logs including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URLs. This data is used to diagnose issues and understand how the site is used.

Cookies. We use a single session cookie (session_id) to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain your account and access to member content.
  • To send the newsletter and transactional emails (e.g. password resets).
  • To respond to enquiries you send us.
  • To monitor the technical health of the site.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services which may process your data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

  • Neon — cloud PostgreSQL database that stores your account and subscription data.
  • Resend — email delivery service used to send newsletters and transactional emails.
  • Vercel — hosting and edge infrastructure that processes web requests.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

Subscriber emails are retained until you unsubscribe or request removal.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Data portability.

6. Children

Shanga HQ is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here with an updated “last updated” date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
